U.S. Senator Ben Sasse issued the following statement today regarding the death of Captain Dustin Lukasiewicz:
“Our prayers are with Captain Lukasiewicz’s family, especially his wife and their two children. Nebraskans are heartbroken and know that, while we can never fully repay our debt of gratitude, we are bound to honor Captain Lukasiewicz’s sacrifice and to care for his grieving family. This Nebraskan’s heroism is an enduring reminder of the American people’s commitment to extending comfort and relief to those suffering around the globe.”
Capt. Dustin R. Lukasiewicz, from Wilcox, Nebraska, died on May 12, 2015 when his UH-1Y helicopter crashed during a humanitarian mission in Nepal.
