U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, released the following statement after the State Department announced new sanctions on multiple senior Chinese Communist Party officials for their roles in leading human rights abuses against religious and ethnic minorities in China.

“What the Chinese Communist Party is doing to their own people is sickening. The United States and our allies cannot turn a blind eye to horrific injustices against fundamental freedoms and rights — these sanctions are the right move but we need to do more to highlight the CCP’s atrocities until they are held fully to account for their abuses.”
