U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement after seven international cyber defendants were charged with computer hacking crimes affected more than 100 companies in the U.S. and abroad.

"These indictments show that the Chinese Communist Party will turn a blind eye to cybercrime if reckless hacking ultimately benefits Beijing. Chairman Xi continues to provide a license to these criminals to hack and steal at will. As this case demonstrates, it will take international partnership and cooperation to stop Beijing sanctioned cybercrime."
