Sasse Slams CCP’s "Double Standard" Propaganda
May 10, 2021
U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement today after The People's Daily, an official publication of the Chinese Communist Party, accused the U.S. of having a "Human Rights Violations Double Standard."
“If Chairman Xi wants to talk about human rights, let's talk about human rights -- or, better yet, let's listen to some of the Uyghurs who have escaped Xinjiang. In China, minority women are raped by the state, slavery is a government business, and Muslims are sent to torture camps for their beliefs. Chairman Xi can spew all the false-equivalence propaganda he wants, but the truth is that America is constitutionally committed to the never-ending pursuit of human dignity while the Chinese Communist Party is beholden to its Chairman’s desires to erase all perceived threats to his hold on power.”
