U.S. Senator Ben Sasse issued the following statement after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that the August state work period will be delayed until the third week of the month.
"Leader McConnell is right — Washington needs to take promises more seriously,” said Sasse. “For seven years, Republicans in the Senate promised to repeal Obamacare — and that’s exactly what we should do. The Senate should then be willing to work 6 days a week, 18 hours a day until we fulfill our promise of a replacement on healthcare. We need a replacement that protects the poorest and weakest among us, but also drives down costs for American families."
