U.S. Senator Ben Sasse released the following statement after some private and parochial schools around the country will be prevented from opening this fall, despite meeting state guidelines for social distancing.

“There’s no perfect playbook for running a successful K-12 program in the middle of a historic pandemic — but here’s what we know: mandating shutdowns of parochial and other private schools that are following CDC and state guidelines is heavy-handed, big government hooey. Local school districts should have lots of leeway, especially private ones, and they shouldn’t have to fend off politicians shutting down opportunities for kids to learn.”
